FAQ & Help

Why sourdough?

There are two main reasons to choose sourdough over other breads: flavor and nutrition.

Sourdough breads are made through a slow-moving, natural fermentation process that produces a variety of flavor compounds that are largely absent from other kinds of bread. This results in fuller, more complex flavors in sourdough breads.

That same slow fermentation process also extracts more nutrients from the flour. Not only that, these nutrients - including fiber and protein - are also easier for the body to digest and use. Sourdough breads are also lower in glycemic index and sugar than others.

Perhaps surprisingly, the sourdough fermentation process breaks down gluten. As a result, some people with moderate gluten sensitivity or intolerance consume sourdough breads without issue.

How do I store my bread?

Our fresh breads will keep for 3-5 days on the countertop wrapped in foil and kept out of direct sunlight. This will keep the crumb from drying out, while also keeping the crust from getting either chewy or mushy.

Alternatively, you can wrap the bread in a breathable linen cloth instead of foil to reduce waste. Though, this may cause the bread to dry out faster, depending on the cloth.

Can I freeze my bread?

Yes. Wrap it in plastic wrap then in aluminum foil for best results. Alternatively, you can wrap it in foil and place it in a plastic bag.

You can also slice it before you freeze it to make it easy to take out only a slice or two at a time.
